Week 1 in The Connected Educator

As an educator, I love to learn. I love to learn about new technology, new resources, new ideas, old ideas, and how to improve connecting to my career with new materials that benefit me and my students.
This first week in class I was able to already see the benefit of reaching out to other people, by finding new blogs, and getting engaged and encouraged through those blogs. One blog that stuck out to me was a middle school math blog that had so many great ideas and images that I can take back into my classroom right away. This blog, called Middle School Math Rules, is well organized and easy to understand and use, it is just very catchy and a blog that has stuck out to me. Another great idea that I have never heard of is Feedly. Feedly allows you to keep your ideas, resources, and links connected in one spot. I have SO many resources that I look back to all the time, but I have them all saved in so many different areas that sometimes I forget where they are and I have to relook for them. Feedly is going to be a great resource for me to keep my resources in one spot. Being able to be organized in that way, will be so helpful in my future. I have also never used Adobe Spark, and I already LOVE IT. I do not think of myself as a creative person in any way. I can barely draw a bird (I tried to draw a fancy looking bird on my white board the other day, and the kids called me out on how bad it was) and with Adobe Spark, I feel so creative and fancy. It makes things come to life in a way that represents you. The fact that I can upload my own pictures, use my own words or ideas, is a great tool. I think my students will really enjoy the use of Adobe Spark as well. Students could express themselves with it, and create fun projects with it.

With every new class, comes new ideas. And I truly love it. Just within this week I have found brand new resources, as mentioned Adobe Spark, that I will use forever. Being able to grow as a teacher is what makes our job so joyful. Knowing that whenever I learn, I am helping my students learn as well. I know I will continue to learn more throughout these weeks in this class.
